This steamy romance is a page turning read that is so realistic that you feel the ups and downs of Raul and Veronica. In FOR THE LOVE OF HIS LIE, McGier does not sugar coat the difficulties that Raul has to face in order to get himself together enough to take back his life and career. While Veronica is able to be both strong and supportive without loosing herself or sight of what is important even when Raul can't. This does not read like a fairy tale, there are no simple hurdles that are quickly overcome and then there's a happily ever after. Raul finds that things don't always happen they way that he wants and that sometimes your demons get the upper hand.

In Only One Man May Do we meet Dmitri, that's right a hot Russian, and Alexandra a,shall we say, sexually liberated woman who knows what she wants and takes crap from no one. Alexandra is a great character, but may be hard to embrace for some because she is one brassy broad that makes no excuses or apologies for how she leads her very rambunctious life. Dmitri has much more patience with her than I would have thought for a very alpha type male, but there is a limit to his patience and tolerance and Alexandra, in true form, finds it. This was a good read, a bit short, but it's a complete story so I did not feel shorted in any way. There's lot of steaminess so if you are faint of heart be warned!

I received copies of both of these books from the author in exchange for an honest review. I don't usually add more here, but I really, really enjoyed these stories. It took me a little while to get to them, but I am so glad that I had the chance to read them. The biggest negative is that they are pricey at $6.95 each for the eBook. For eBooks that are less than 250 pages that is just a bit much-you all know by now how I feel about the pricing of eBooks, so I felt that it would not be completely honest of me if I did not mention the price as a negative. I would probably not have purchased these for myself because, well, I'm cheap. If the price of these were lowered I think that it would help get people to take a chance and give them a read. Also I am not a fan of the cover on For the Love of His Life, but I love the cover for Only One Man Will Do.
About the Author:
Fiona has always had stories in her head. Characters intrude into her thoughts and insist on showing her scenes from their lives. She discovered that when she ignores them, they start to yell louder; if she writes their stories and they can live in readers' heads as well, they usually leave her alone. Only to be replaced by a new group of story-tellers. Her head is usually a very crowded place, but she likes it that way.

ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you enjoyed reading both books. Yes, Alex in Only One Man Will Do is hard to like...just like Raul in For The Love Of His Life is kind of hard to like in parts of that book. But I write realistic stories with people who have flaws, but who can still find lasting real love even as imperfect as they are. I really believe in my heroes and heroines, since I always fall in love with the heroes while I'm writing each story. I'm so glad you got wrapped up in their romances.
