Needing Moore Series by Julie Richman Review

This first installment of the Needing Moore Series sets the background for the love affair between Schooner and Mia. After a disappointing 43 rd birthday party, Schooner connects with his first love Mia Silva, through Facebook. After speaking to Mia for the first time in over 20 years they discover that they were the victims of manipulation and deceit. The journey back to each other is uneasy and fragile, but they are willing to reach for a love that never truly died for either of them.

We are taken to the very beginning of their story when they meet as college freshmen. Schooner is the quintessential California boy. Tall, blond, athletic, charismatic, and the product of a loving family Schooner has everything going for him. The only problem is that Schooner, like most young people his own age, doesn't know who he really is and what he really wants in life. Mia, an East coast, scarily smart girl is comfortable in her own skin and doesn't mind being different from the typical West coast beauty.

Although during the majority of book 1 Mia and Schooner are in college this does not read like an angsty New Adult story. The things that happen between and to Mia and Schooner are common denominator experiences that allows the reader to connect with both main characters. I love Mia's smart mouthed banter and seeing Schooner slowly begins to see both himself and the world in a new way. Schooner and Mia endure a traumatic experience and grow closer yet life is rarely easy and circumstances occur that pushes them to the brink.

I really enjoyed book 1 and there were times when I held my breath hoping that stubbornness, uncertainty, and fear of loss wouldn't cause Mia and Schooner to make mistakes that would rip them apart again. I am not one to root for a marriage to end, but Schooner's wife CJ is a real piece of work and I didn't see any redeeming qualities in her that made me feel any empathy at all. And CJ's & Schooner's son Zac will make you just want to slap the taste out of his mouth. Yeah, I know that you shouldn't hit children, but this child needs some good ole Southern discipline! Again, life deals Schooner and Mia a blow and book 1 ends on a big fat cliffhanger, but thank goodness book 2 is available!

Happy Reading!

But is their love really strong enough to overcome the damage of those missing 24 years or will they continue to be ripped apart by pasts that can't be changed?

This is Book 2 in the Needing Moore Series trilogy. This is not a stand alone book. It is meant to be read after Searching for Moore. Book 3 - Moore than Forever releases February 21, 2014.

Book 2 of the Needing Moore series gives much of the background of Mia's journey from her devastation after leaving Schooner and California to their reconciliation. We get to see all of the craziness, drama, and absolutely horrifying behavior Mia indulged in and experienced on her journey to adulthood. We see how Mia's BFF Seth, a.k.a. Princess, comes into the picture as well as how Mia became the successful business woman that she is. This part of Schooner and Mia's journey is mainly focused on Mia and there are some heart wrenching moments in this book as well as moments where you just want to knock Mia on the back of the head.

We do however get a bit of the present in book 2 with Mia and Schooner. Of course there is drama involving CJ and Zac that causes tension between Mia and Schooner which plays on both of their insecurities. I enjoyed book 2 but I am glad that I came to this series late since I can jump right into the conclusion in book 3, Moore than Forever, which will wrap up this lovely trilogy.

In this third and final book in the Needing Moore Series trilogy, Schooner Moore and Mia Silver must learn how to grow together and fight together as a team to hold onto their second chance love.  Continually stumbling on roadblocks and ghosts from their past, can Schooner and Mia take the lessons they've learned and use them to forge a future together.

A wonderful conclusion to this trilogy! Make sure that you have a tissue handy during this book, because there are parts that are definite tear jerkers. Mia and Schooner are still dealing with their individual insecurities and the difficulties of blending two lives, but their love and commitment helps them to overcome the twists and turns. Richman has woven a believable love story with all of the adversity, happiness, and drama of a modern couple. This series pulls you through each book so well that when I finished I felt absolutely satisfied with the completion of the trilogy. If you enjoy "real" romances that make you feel that the characters are people you would want to know please give this series a try. I am so glad that I was able to experience Moore!

About the Author:

I must've been 5 or 6 when I started writing "stories".  I would write them and hide them. Not wanting anyone to see my "secret" thoughts. I needed to write -even back then.  Now I'm just not hiding them anymore.  Is that a sign of maturity?  Nah ....
Writer, photographer, insatiable wanderluster, edge-player, foodie, music addict, pop culture fanatic, animal lover, warrior for the rights of people and planet, and avid cusser (am a Native New Yorker, so very little offends me ... and if I am offended, it must be pretty freaking bad .. like bad grammar!).
I am big believer in signs and if we keep ourselves open, there are guideposts all along the way. Stay humble. Be true. Be you.
Life is not a dress rehearsal ...
