I've done it again. I have managed to come in at the very end of what is a wildly popular series and fallen for an author that everyone else seems to already know. Although IN FOR THE KILL is the 11th and final book in the McClouds & Friends series, I read it as a stand alone. That being said, I was okay with not knowing the detailed back stories of the secondary characters that made plenty of appearances in this story. If you are the type of reader who needs to know the stories behind all of the characters you won't really want to start with this one. What I do know is that now I have to go back and start from the beginning at some point and read the first books because this one sucked me in and didn't let me go until the very last scene.
IN FOR THE KILL is romantic suspense done right. You won't figure out everything that's going on right off the bat. There are plenty of twists and turns in the story. Sam is a wonderful hero. Strong, determined, and patient when it comes to Sveti; which is a bonus since she is a bit impulsive in her desire to do what's right. The criminals in this one are really bad and she sometimes makes decisions that are not in the least bit safe.
There's lot of steaminess, danger, and plot twists to keep you entertained in IN FOR THE KILL and I look forward to going back and getting lost in the world of McClouds and Friends since I'm so late to the party!
