Wolf Bride (Lust in the Tudor Court #1) by Elizabeth Moss Review

WOLF BRIDE is a well written and steamy historical romance. The treachery and danger of Henry VIII's court made for an interesting backdrop. I enjoyed the intertwining of Eloise's story with the dangers of being a lady-in-waiting to Anne Boleyn, and we all know that Anne's story was not a pretty one. Although Eloise managed to escape one problem she finds herself saddled with a man that she doesn't know, doesn't trust, and definitely does not love in the beginning. 

Wolf is a high handed, arrogant, and often selfish man. There aren't flowery words or wooing from Wolf. He coerces Eloise into getting what he wants and doesn't treat Eloise very well. Eloise is young, naive, and lacks confidence in herself. She tolerates way too much from Wolf and doesn't know how to handle him. There is no deep abiding love between Eloise and Wolf. Wolf didn't respect Eloise as a woman or his wife so I found it hard to want them to be together despite the physical chemistry that they had. There was quite a bit of wavering from Eloise throughout the book. She could not seem to decide whether she wanted to love Wolf or not. 

WOLF BRIDE was a good read but it doesn't have a strong heroine or a very likable hero either. I do not have a problem with the hero being a jerk or the heroine being dependent on her hero in a historical romance, but I do want the hero to truly fall in love with the heroine and I am not sure that is what happens with this one.
