Liam had a rough upbringing and is under no disillusion as to how unjust the world can be. He finds his lifeline and purpose as teen through his connection to a man who lives outside the rules of society. Loyalty and dedication to his new biker family and fellow foster child has made Liam a strong person. He is much older than his years. He does make mistakes but he owns them as well as not shying away from doing what he has to do to protect the people he loves even when it goes against what he thinks is best.
Em has grown up a club princess and knows all of the ins and outs of what belonging to a biker family means. She's tough, smart, and most of all frustrated at her lack of romantic options. She is more than ready to make things happen for herself, but she gets way more than she bargained for when she takes things into her own hands. I really enjoyed that she isn't a wait to be saved kind of girl and often surprised those around her with her ability to adapt and creatively save herself in dangerous and scary situations.
DEVIL'S GAME is another enjoyable addition to the REAPER'S MC series. Although this is firmly in the New Adult area it was truly enjoyable for a reader like me who doesn't particularly enjoy the angst of growing into adulthood normally found in NA reads. Liam and Em are young, but they aren't foolish in their approach to life. Wylde is definitely an exception to my tread with caution approach to NA romance.
