Omega Mine (Alpha and Omega #1) by Aline Hunter

OMEGA MINE is set in a world where shifters are secretive and somewhat fractured into communities that look out for themselves. Hidden in plain sight among humans in large cities they are able to live and work among humans with little interference. However, there are big changes on the horizon. Their enemy is becoming bolder and starting to infringe further into shifter territory.

New York is the home of the leader of leaders Diskant Black. Not only is Diskant alpha to his own pack, he can  shift into any form he chooses which also make him omega to all shifters.  Even with all of his power and authority Diskant isn't immune to the lure of his true mate. When his mate turns up in the form of what he at first thinks is just a weak human woman, Diskant quickly figures out that she has a power over him that he can't ignore. Ava (Pinkie) proves to be very beneficial to the shifter community when her extra abilities are discovered. Ava will prove stronger than she looks and also becomes a valuable asset in the fight against the enemy who hunts all shifters. The Shepherd's are an extended family and community of humans who believe it's their God given duty to hunt down and destroy any and all shifters that they can get their hands on. Believing them to be abominations that are a threat to humanity they are a force to be reckoned with. The whole clan of Shephards fall into the crazy but dangerous category.

OMEGA MINE is just the type of paranormal story that I enjoy finding. The world building is well done and Hunter's descriptive writing style made it easy for me to submerge myself quickly into the story. There is plenty of well developed story as well as the set up for future shifter stories. There's also the requisite steaminess that is always a bonus in the paranormal fated mates stories. Although there is plenty of romance the plot and action is what kept me engaged. The world Hunter has created is rich and detailed. I look forward to moving forward through this series. I listened to the audio version of OMEGA MINE which was well narrated by Maxine Mitchell.

Happy Reading!

Synopsis

A bond forged in blood. Fealty given to the one he desires above all others. Graced with the ability to shift into any form, Diskant Black is the absolute authority when it comes to New York shifters, and as the Omega of the city, his word is law. Protecting the shifter races is more than a job, it's a predisposition ingrained since birth-nothing is more important. Until a chance encounter with a tiny female sets fire to his blood, brings him to his knees and turns his world upside down. Ava Brisbane is more than he bargained for in a mate-beautiful, fragile...human. If he wants to keep her by his side, he'll have to sacrifice a portion of his soul to establish a bond that can never be broken. Unfortunately, the timing couldn't be worse. Shepherds-hunters of all the shifter races-have arrived in New York. To protect the woman he can't live without, Diskant will have to stand against those who have come to start a war.

  1. I may have to look into this one, sounds like a audio I could get behind and who doesn't need more shifters in their lives?
