Today I am featuring my favorite pair of old worn cowboy boots and I couldn't resist adding J.D.'s (my dad) old felt Stetson. I love this hat, just looking at it reminds me of my dad, and it's his side of the family that has Texas/Louisiana roots. I love reading books that take place in an area that I am familiar with and in Bluebird, Bluebird Attica Locke takes me straight to the familiar territory of East Texas which is my familial stomping ground. Locke is so good at setting a scene that I can clearly see Highway 59 along with the pine trees and small towns that line it in my minds eye. I will admit that I am biased when it comes to this one because of the recognition and sense of home that I get from it, but that wouldn't mean anything if Locke didn't also give a good story and she definitely did! You can read my full review of Bluebird, Bluebird along with a clip of Attica Locke talking about Bluebird, Bluebird here.
