Hell's Belle by Karen Greco Review

This story starts off with a scene that includes a vampire fighting, butt kicking Mayor Cory Booker who not going to have some rogue vampires jacking up his city. LOVED that she used Cory Booker, the beloved Mayor of New Jersey in a cameo appearance. I think that my favorite line in the entire book was actually the first line of the book: "I was wearing the wrong damn shoes." I can't even count the number of times that I have thought that to myself, although admittedly it was never for the same reason as Nina.

Nina is a half vampire/half human Blood Op agent, Blood Op is a secret agency for the Department of Defense that defends the country against harmful supernatural creatures. Her father was a very old and strong vampire and her mother human. Nina in the beginning does not have a firm grasp on her history and as the story progresses she learns more about herself, her abilities, and her past after moving back to her home town of Providence, Rhode Island to help her Aunt Babe run their family bar. Her best friends are a Frankie, a 500+  year old vampire and Darcy who's a banshee.

Nina also has a host of other worldly creatures to deal with. Witches, ghosts, one who she dubs "Casper the Witchy Ghost" who is the ghost of a murdered witch that needs her help to catch and stop the people who are murdering witches, and down right evil vampires which make for lots of action.I enjoyed this read and will definitely be keeping an eye out for the second book, I need to know how things play out between Nina, Max, Nina's love interest and an  FBI agent whose life is irreparably changed during the course of the book, and Frankie the vampire best friend who ends up being so much more than just a best friend.

Happy Reading!
