La Famiglia is book 4 in the Bataglia Mafia Series and it did not disappoint! Mynx brings the heat in a serious way among the three main couples and there is action, conflict, and some resolution to many of the problems that have been building over the last three books. There are snakes in the Battaglia garden and we all know that there are no limits to what Gio, the Capo di tutti capi, will do when it comes to protecting the Eden he wants for his family. Is it wrong of me to find Gio's aggressiveness hot as hell? Oh, well, the heart wants what it wants and so does the libido! The ending is left open and I can't wait to see where Mynx is leading us next.
La Famiglia has a bit more steaminess than the previous books, but I didn't mind it at all! Giovanni is still the sexiest Don I have come across and I love him and all of his alpha flaws and craziness. Mira is still struggling with her role as the Donna, but despite her fears and anxieties, continues to fight for the love she has for her family and marriage. Lorenzo and Marietta take their love affair and genuine craziness further and further into new realms of "what the hell is wrong with ya'll". Their relationship is like a watching someone jump from a plane. You hold your breath and pray everyone lands safely. Domi and Catalina continue to struggle finding their roles with each other, themselves as individuals, and their places in the family. Mancini continues to force his influence on his daughters lives and the truth of his convoluted and painful past comes to light.
The Battaglia Series is one of my all time favorite series, not just my favorite IR series. Mynx transcends the basic story of race and it's role in the relationships formed in her series. Race of course plays a role in he the story, but it is not the only theme. Mynx solidly looks at the dynamics between a strong and determined man and an equally strong and determined woman; a Don and his American Donna; and the coming together of broken people who are all trying desperately to form, foster, and strengthen a family that will be bound and committed to one another above anything and anyone else. Bravissimo Ms Mynx! Another wonderful addition to your series!
Happy Reading!
