Reckless, book 1 in the Renegades series, was a fun romantic read with little fuss. The main conflict between Lexi and Jax is Lexi not wanting to be seen with the "wrong" sort of man and thus endangering her personal reputation as well as her career as a designer. Lexi is vying for an opportunity to collaborate with a famous design company that could help launch her to a higher and more respected level in the design world and doesn't want any possible personal scrutiny to ruin her opportunities. Although this was a somewhat weak source of tension for me, I did enjoy Reckless for what it was; a sweetly sexy romance that was a good source of escape. Lexi is a likable and hardworking woman who came from little and made success happen for herself. While Jax, although born into a wealthy family and was blessed with a successful career, decided to take a new path for himself and through hard work and dedication built a new life and business for himself.
There's no real suspense, no heart wrenching scenes, no mystery or impending drama. Reckless is a simple, entertaining romantic read that is well worth reading. Reckless left me with a little smile but it isn't a story that I will turn over in my mind for days to come. However, I did enjoy it enough that I will read book 2, Rebel down the line. Reckless would make a great summer vacation read or anytime that you need a quick read without complicated, dark or heavy plots. The narration is well done as well. Joan Swan has a good speaking voice with a smooth cadence that I enjoyed.
Happy Reading!

Synopsis:
A couture wedding dress designer to the rich and famous, Lexi LaCroix's image means everything. Raised on the wrong side of the tracks, her years of polish and hard work are finally about to pay off. But crossing paths with a sexier-than-sin, bad-boy biker who makes her realize how much living she's sacrificed for her success, one touch is all it takes to threaten her carefully choreographed life.
Jax Chamberlin has been screwed over by gorgeous gold-diggers one too many times. Though he runs his own stunt company, all of America knows his Hollywood face even years after he's given up acting. Finding a woman who doesn't plan to use him as a stepping stone to success is virtually impossible, so when the charming and mysterious Lexi offers him a chance at a totally anonymous hook-up during an out of town trip, Jax accepts. Only Lexi is more sextacular than charming, and Jax wants more. Lots more.
But Lexi's got a major hang-up over his renegade lifestyle. And if she finds out his connections could catapult her to the top of her career, he's afraid the fantasy woman he's falling for might just end up like all the rest.
Warning: This novel contains uber-hot sexual encounters. For safety's sake, read along with pitcher of ice-water. Or...wine...
Renegades Series in Order:
Reckless (Book #1)
One small criticism-Rubi is supposed to biracial and the cover model for this book looks absolutely nothing like I pictured her!
Sassy, smart, and sexy, former supermodel-turned-tech guru Rubi Russo has it all—looks, money, confidence and freedom. Her life is a whirlwind of fast cars and fleeting affairs—and she likes it that way. With a past like Rubi’s, forever isn’t part of her vocabulary. So when studly Renegade stuntman Wes Lawson wants to take their friendship to the next level, she’s all out.
Raised a simple country-boy, Wes knows the brazen Rubi isn’t his type. But after spending time with her, he discovers she’s everything he’s ever wanted in a woman. To win her wild rebel heart, he’ll have to prove he sees behind her smokescreen to all the goodness she tries to hide. Then it’s just a matter of crushing her fears, shattering her barriers, and convincing her that loving him is everything she’s been missing in her life, too.
Ricochet (Renegades #3) is due out Winter 2014
