AFFLICTION is another addition to my favorite reads list. This is a wonderful continuation to the Knight's Rebels world that Savage has created. The love story between Sy and Holly is both tragic and beautiful at the same time.
Affliction takes place where Incandescent leaves off. Holly is fighting to heal from the viscous attack that has taken much more from her than anyone initially realized. Sy is determined to stay by Holly's side and help her to heal whether she likes it or not. Holly is emotionally scarred and is trying to figure out how to move on and reclaim the part of herself that has been dimmed by her ordeal. Neither Holly nor Sy have all of the information that they need to move forward and possibly have a relationship together. They struggle to build a relationship from nothing but lust, tragedy, and misunderstandings.
Sy has a past that he doesn't talk about with anyone that has caused him to become the silent, tattooed, bad ass biker giant that Holly is attracted to. Their relationship didn't start with hearts and flowers but quick and intense lust that Sy wouldn't let develop into something more until he almost lost Holly. Until Sy is able to accept that there are things that he can't change and people he can't save he will continue to struggle to truly be what Holly needs. Holly has a secret that she is carrying that is slowly eating away at her and until she shares it with the one person who deserves to know she will never be able to move forward herself.
AFFLICTION is full of heartache, a bit of action and suspense, and the struggle of two damaged people trying to find their bit of happiness. AFFLICTION is another wonderful read with great secondary characters. I'm loving Beau and what he's started in this one. Now I will have to patiently wait to read what Savage has in store for us next with playboy biker Jesse's story that is due out in early 2015!
