Everyone's Table: Global Recipes for Modern Health by Gregory Gourdet: Review

I jumped on the opportunity to get an advanced copy of this beautiful cookbook and it didn't disappoint. I am not known as being the most adventurous cook in my family, but I love to think that I COULD be. Being the one that does the lion's share of the cooking for my means that over the years I have collected my go to recipes that even I will admit I am tired of making and eating on a regular basis. Although mostly yummy there's not much new and exciting coming out of my kitchen and that's just a shame.

The recipes in Everyone's Table are far from ordinary or bland with ingredients like scratch made aromatic chile paste, which Gourdet provides a recipe for,  scotch bonnets (I admit I'm a wuss so that will be scaled waaaaay back or I'll use the optional substitute for me), aromatic lemon grass, and delicious coconut sugar. Gourdet even found a way to make meatloaf sound appealing with his version of Mom's Haitian Meatloaf (p. 238). I will definitely be giving it a try when the weather turns cold and stick to your ribs meals are what I'm craving. We eat a lot of chicken in my household so the first recipe that I will be trying from this cookbook is the Glazed Chicken Thighs with Garlic, Ginger and Scallions (page 228). It promises a kiss of heat with the inclusion of Fresno chiles that I am sure will be delicious.

If you're looking for a new cookbook that pulls from a variety of food cultures with recipes that aren't overly complicated I would recommend checking out this beautiful new cookbook from Top Chef star Gregory Gourdet.
