October Reading Wrap Up

Happy Monday and Happy Halloween! I am adding a new feature here on the blog, a monthly reading wrap up. Since I read lots of books throughout the year it's sometimes hard to review every single book/audio book that I read/listen to. One of the things that many of the BookTubers I follow do that I really enjoy are monthly wrap ups. I love the concept because it seems to take the pressure off of getting a review written and posted immediately after finishing a book.  I figured that monthly wrap ups would work just as well here on my blog. I will be giving short reviews for each book that I read within these wrap up posts or link to full length reviews if I was able to write one. October was a pretty good reading month for me. I read ten books, 3 comic books, and listened to two audio books. I'm on a roll and will hopefully make my Goodreads challenge number by the end of the year! I hope you enjoy this new addition to my postings.

Book Cataloging App Help Needed!

Bookish friends I need your help! I need to know how you conveniently keep track of what you have on your physical book shelf. I would like to use a book app on my phone so that I always have my catalog with me, but I need recommendations on which apps are really user friendly and have helpful features. While glorying in my latest grab of book bargains yesterday, I discovered that I really need to have a way of cataloging the books that I own so that I don't double buy. Since I am trying to rebuild my physical library I have accidentally purchased the same book twice several times because while standing with a fifty cents book in my hand I figure it's better to err on the side of caution than not have a book that I've been wanting. I'm not being a good bargain shopper if I'm purchasing more than I need, right? Anyhoo, I found a box of books that I had stuck away, forgotten about, and rediscovered yesterday. And of course, I now have doubles again! (Don't judge!) I really need to keep this from happening again, it's redundant and ridiculous I know! I know that there are apps out there that allow you to scan your books and that's exactly what I would like. I'm going to download a few apps this weekend and give them a try, but I would love to know what you use and what you like and dislike about the app.

Thanks in advance!

October Book Haul

Today's book haul features smutty goodness, cave dwellers, a dysfunctional family, a woman with special gifts, and a book of poetry. Yep, it has it all! A trip to visit with my sister on Saturday landed me at her local Goodwill and I can't believe that I had never stopped into it before. I scored plenty of book goodness! The Earth's Children series is one of my favorite series and I would love to collect them all in hardback, but I found book two through five in these mint condition trade editions and I was thrilled. I also found some unexpected romance books that I snapped up along with a book of poetry from Alice Walker. I am in no way a fan of poetry, and know little to nothing about good poetry. But what I stumbled across was in like new condition and I figured that I couldn't start in any better place than with a collection by Alice Walker. I also added two general fiction books to the pile. I'm telling you, if you don't hit up your local Goodwill and thrift stores for books, you are missing out! I bought 18 books for $18-you can't beat that with a stick! I hope you enjoy browsing through my latest additions to my book stash!
