Forged in Dreams and Magick (A Highland Legends Novel) by Kat Bastion Review

This story checked a lot of boxes for me! Is the book set in the Highlands of Scotland? Check. Does it feature time travel? Check. Are there fabulous alpha males? Check. Does the story pull you straight through the book and leave you wanting more? Check, check! Kat Bastion weaves a story of love, mystery, and yes magic that will have you ignoring family and friends to find out how things are going to play out for Isobel, Iain, and Velloc. It's one thing to have to choose between two men that both feel you belong to them, but to also cross time as well? Isobel get thrown back in time not once, but twice. Yes, that's right, the book is over three different time lines. There's a lot to this book and you won't be skimming this book or you'll miss important bits of information. There are definitely "what the heck just happened" moments. Bastion was able to connect all of the complicated craziness of this story together in such an enjoyable way.

There is an element of the paranormal in the story with magic and celestial, mysterious beings. Isobel is not a passive heroine she definitely has her own mind which makes me like her character even more. Now that I have convinced you that this is a good read here's the one negative that you may or may not be willing to accept. Two very strong alpha males are able to accept that the woman they each love, loves, sleeps with, and builds a life with another man. When Isobel goes back and forth I expected at least a little bit of histrionics to happen. Some furniture throwing, Iain or Velloc withholding sex for a bit, or at least some howling and rolling around on the ground. Give me something! These two alphas were way too calm about the sharing for me. Although Iain initially said that Isobel was his and he did not want to help her learn to manipulate her ability to time travel he still gave in to her. I really expected him to refuse to let her go back.  Maybe I'm just being a drama queen, but this mamma wanted some drama! This book is well written, the plot is unique and will pull you in, the love scenes are steamy, and at the end of the story you will be left wanting the next book to come out as soon as possible.

Happy Reading!
